Artist Bio

" I have always loved creating art. Even as a small child I would spend hours creating art out of anything I could find. In college I ate up every discipline I could take a class in. I learned printmaking, jewelry casting, mold making and different types of sculpture including my favorite, bronze casting. All of these disciplines influenced the way that I paint now. My paintings contain the elements of collage, metal and high relief texture. The end result is a painting that is a light relief with a reflective quality that shifts with the light of day.

The aging of old billboards, rusting metal and the textures found in nature inspire the colorful and sculptural quality of my works.

I am moved by social justice and the ongoing fight for equality for all. I want to show the world that representation matters and that we are all beautiful.

I am greatly inspired by my exploration of African and Afro Latin spirituality and the wild places of our earth.

I create digital artwork as well and I am currently working on an Afrocentric oracle deck.

I have also contributed to large scale art at the "Burning Man" festival."

Lisa lives nestled in the Sierras in Northern California. She enjoys gardening, hiking, camping and sharing a loving space with her dog Marley.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
